Hospital Attachment- Week 1

Week 1
Candy at Surgery Department

Day 1:
Waited for almost 2 hours to the so-called head of surgeon.
Met him, and we were left to this friendly Mr.Lee.
4 of us, with no assignment, no task..
We wandered around the ward.

LOL!
Wearing that white lab coat, we look pro..
But please don't ask us anything. Hahaha

Day 2:
We arrived there early as though we are doctors. Hah...

Made our very "professional way" to the clinic.
And..
I'm inside this room, with the friendly breast surgeon.

It was really fun in the beginning.
Having guided, FINALLY.
And taught by her as well..

Basically, all breast cancer patient.
Got patient with removed breast, breast discharge, breast lump diagnosed..
Bla bla bla..

It was kinda fun...
Till...
I also can't stand dy..
Breast.. Breast.. And breast cancer!
Oh my!!!

Can even feel the pressure on my breast. Lol!

End at lepak~ing and wandering in lab coat..

Day 3:
Arrived super early, like a punctual surgeon
But face like a poor on-called houseman officer.
Hahah..

First task: find that friendly breast surgeon, get permission

Second task: find the operation theater!!

Oh my..

There are lots of procedure to follow.
We are like headless chicken, heading here and there with no obvious guide!

But well, after few attempt..
We finally manage to get changed, prepared into this OT 5!

Unfortunately,
The nurses told us, "Ada pakai baju lebih tak? OT 5 paling sejuk tau!"
And both of us, stared shock!
No orh..nothing other than our 'inner beauty'

That's me.. Haha.. Freezing cold inside the OT. Like a long cube hurh??

A reward~~~~

My heart beating fast inside my chest,

I can feel the heart beat, so close..

as though my chest has became thinned.

I received a message..

a sudden one, while I was enjoying holiday..

(doing nothing actually.. ^^)

Text: "Candy, have you check your result?"

murmured deeply, 'aahh.. ruin my day! eish.. result.'

I quickly run to my room for internet access,

but.. apparently my little monster bro watching pps.

Trying to avoid the nervous breakdown

while waiting for result downloads

due to slow connection,

I went back to TV..

and once, I get to hold that black mouse,

i quickly search up, sign in, double check..

Double confirm...

annnnnnddddd...

I passed!!! hahahaaha...

How grateful am I!!

unfortunately, few of my friends didn't make it.

I'm really hoping, praying that they can make it through.

and yup, this is my another breakthrough..

Looking at my dad,

I felt how grown old has he been..

how many days of tiredness wash off..

how he held up everything for me..

I picked up a call to make him a prank..

(He nervously asked me every time for my result release.. ^^)

Me: "Daddy.. erm.. result 出了。。我。。我。。我。。"

Dad: "怎样？"

Me: trying hard to hold my laugh... “我好像要去kl一趟了"

Dad: remained silence for quite long...

Me: Burst our of laughter.. "我pass啦。。哈哈！”

Dad: "现在会玩爸爸啊？ 吓到我。。 就知道你可以的！！"

Warmly felt deep inside the now relaxed heart..

and of course,

he's not gonna run away from cake surprise from me..

Hahaha.. though he end by saying, "38，你不早说，我吃得饱饱了。 你吃完。”

And i just sit and wait.. cause at rest..

From my point of view:

1st station: REST.. LOL..

Not a good start right.. but wait..

2nd station: REST

3rd station: REST

hahaha.. what a luck huh?? aiyoyo..

hmm.. we have like question sticking outside for us to read de..

so, yeah..

4th: Physical examination.

With a male stimulated patient(SP) inside and lecturer.

Note; SP are those ppl who act to be patient.

I did worst in there..

REASON: the SP is a bad actor.

He breathe through mouth and expect me to see it as respiratory distress.

Oi, SIR! respiratory distress not like that ok!!

Then I said, "Can you pls take deep breath in and out?"

Eish.. he can't breath properly arh..

So, I report what I found lor..

manatau lecturer said: "he's a normal patient. His breathing is normal"

I think it's because he wanted to give me clue. Manatau get it worst.

hz~~~

so, I can't finish everything in the 5 minutes time.. :((((

5th station: Lymph node examination.

There was a lump in the neck.

It's a lady lar.. kinda old dy..

the thing is.. I dunno whether it's fat or mass.

=.="

so, i ignore it.. Manatau it's a mass..

hahahaha..

Epic fail lar.. Candy!!

6th station: Pain in chest. History taking.

Uncle!! can't you talk more arh??

I ask one question, u answered one word.

susah la tu!!

7th station: Denggi fever. History taking with lecturer.

Oi, budak.. itchy say lar itchy..

the way he do it's like, I thought he broke his arm..

LOL!!

I think I need to improve my body language reading..

hahaha..

So, yeah..

that's all lor..

I done kinda bad actually.

Cause I didn't get ALL the marks..

Well.. The main point is..

I'M HAVING MY OSCE TOMORROW!!!

(oh ya.. we gonna need glove!! Digital rectal examination.
wonder what is that? Google it.. haha)

note: OSCE= practical exam.

Which gonna test us upon our clinical skills.

Sounds pro right?? memorize work banyak lor..

hahah..

IMU boleh marh.. memorize only..

medicine surely by your hand if you have enough memory..

So, get as big hard disk as possible!!!

Well..

I'm mainly studying how to "touch, feel, undress" my patient.

hahaha..

even learn to wash "PROPER" handwashing!

P/S: I practice every now and then..hahaha.. before&after meal

I'm so so so not in condition recently..

Never ever did all these to myself..

Next, to my exam format..

very very weird+special.. haha..

All In ONCE!!

1st: OSPE- mean separate diagrams with timed questions

(Note: lecture will collect the diagram after 10 mins..)

funny right??

2nd: OBA- 50 objective questions

(tough giler.. keep asking drugs, side effect)

3rd: EMQ- same like objectives, just got more than 10 choices only 

(with limited time lagi.. =.=")

4th: This really epic!! MEQ- each part 7 mins..

description: like playing game. got 2 envelope. First, take the first red paper and answer then time reached, put to 2nd envelope. Then take 2nd green paper

(Note: sometimes 2nd part got 1st part answer..)

Like quiz lar..

funny thing is that..

everyone have to bend down and take paper at the same time..

TRY to imagine!!

 (Every single person oh.. up to almost 200) haha

Imagine, bending right.. then bend to left to take envelope on floor..

Gonna suffer from back pain after that..

Hmm.. I doubt.. lol!!

Hmmm~~
ever since last incidence- EOS 2 exam,

Candy really regret dah..

Trying my best to study hard

for the coming Summative.

Semester 3 dah..

Studying cardiovascular + respiratory system now..

Super super superiorly lots to memorize..

lots of MEDICAL TERM!!

Can flood a tall man with all the words!!

Haha..

Realised that...

all my previous post were about exam..

hahaha..

Sorry to cause this tension+craziness environment..

LOL...

My exam was...

well...

If you have a super photographic memory,

you can score like crazy but never perfect!

Reason:

Our SAQ paper even asked us about water sewage treatment..

=.="

hahaha.. and list how to give a healthy environment..

LOL..

All the future doctors from IMU, they ARE MULTITASK.. ahah

If you study like everyday and memorize like half gila,

you can get AT LEAST C for this exam..

hahaha..

Reason:

We have all the pharmacology question in SAQ or OBA

which shot out the name that I've never heard before

and yeah...

They expect us to know everything

LIKE EVERY SINGLE THING!!!

If you're like Candy.. she always last minute study..

and don't have super great memories..

PRAY HARD TO PASS wei!!!!

Reason:

This exam consist of 3 papers.

2 are SAQ means short answer questions 

and 1 is OBA means One Best Answer.

Both SAQ consists of 24 questions with 10 marks each

One of them is called OSPE, which is like a station answering question..

Like when the bell ring, all the 200++ students get up 

and switch to next seat every 5 minutes..

Haha.. crazy huh?

Like playing games.. =.="

and OBA has 60 questions which ask super specific and in details..

so, yeah...

PRAY HARD~~~

Anyway..

I had some nervous break down after the first SAQ paper..

but yeah.. I managed to put myself together for second day..

All I can say is..

"I really really tried my best"

that's all..

Let it be and I'm so so glad to finish..

Like wahh.. I survived through this EOS!!!

(End of Semester Exam)

After exam, have to drag myself out..

was like so so so sleepy + tired..

and finally able to find my appetite back after few days..

My health is so seriously degenerate..

plus I drink coffee to boost my focus and anything possible..

haha.. Like crazy huh?

eventhough I dislike caffeine smell

Salute to the IMU graduates!!

they survived through this stress-max-exam!! hahaha..

Can celebrate if pass.. hahaha

And my lecturer memang memang rocks lar~~

He went out with us to midvalley after exam..

Talk to us bout everything..

Every single thing..

he play drum in our uni band..

and he has a very dramatic love story..

with a wide experience of travelling..

wearing a "Self Taught Doctor" T-shirt.. lol

He's the very very friendly lecturer I ever met!!

haha..
